3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of depression and painful forms of diabetic neuropathy.

4. Action

The medication has the ability to lower the severity of pain during depressions.
Duloxetine uses its central mechanism, which is effective for suppression of syndrome of pain.

5. Posology and Administration

The medication should be taken orally, the capsules should be swallowed without breaking or chewing in whole. The medication should not be added to a meal or mixed with liquids, as this mixing can damage enteric coat of capsules.
The dose for start of treatment with Duloxetine is usually 60mg per day, which is taken in one intake not depending on meals. Some patients might need to increase the dosage in order to get clinical effect until the highest allowed dose of 50mg per day. There is no sufficient study of using the medication in doses higher than 120mg.
Patients, who are suffering from failure of kidney functioning should start treatment with dose of 30mg per day, in order to not harm patients, suffering from severe failure of kidney functioning.
In patients with failure of functioning of liver: the medication for start of treatment should be used in dose lower than usually, or it is necessary to increase the interval between intakes. Patients with liver cirrhosis should taken not more than 30mg per day.
Age: the medication is not recommended for use in patients above 18 years old. It is not known, if Duloxetine gives efficient clinical performance in treatment of children under age of 18 years.

6. Counterindications

Closed-angle glaucoma, hypersensitivity, lactation period, simultaneous intake of the medications not approved by the treating doctor, age under 18 years (as the medication has no experience of use in this age group). The medication should be applied with caution for patients with aggravation of manic condition, mydriasis, epilepsy, intraocular disturbance of pressure, failure of kidney or liver, in patients who have high probability of suicidal attempts, during period of pregnancy.

Hallucinations, epileptic attacks, disturbances of the kidney or liver functioning, in inclination to suicidal attempts. It is necessary to be careful, when using the medication for treatment of patients with behavior with some symptoms of manic episodes.

9. Overdosing

Dry mouth, dizziness, nausea, drowsiness, sleeping disorders, insomnia, constipation, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, weakness, weight loss, blurring of vision. Also in women - low libido, in men � disorder and retention of ejaculation, atony of erection.
There were also cases of nausea, dizziness, headache, which usually emerge as side effects during cancelling of Duloxetine treatment.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

The medication can be used in process of pregnancy only if the expected positive outcome for mother is more significant than the possible risk of harming the fetus. There is not much clinical experience of use of Duloxetine during pregnancy.
If the medication needs to be used during period of lactation, it is necessary to make a decision about cancelling breast-feeding (because of insufficient experience of use of medication for such patients).
It is necessary to warn women patients that in case if pregnancy occurs in process of treatment with Duloxetine, it is needed to inform a doctor immediately.
