The medication should be taken orally with some amount of water or liquid.
Depressions. The recommended starting dose is 50 or 100mg taken as single-shot dose in the evening. The starting dose should be gradually increased until reaching the efficient level. The usual dose for treatment is 100mg per day, but should be selected on individual basis, depending on how well the patient reacts to treatment. The daily dose can be up to 300mg. Doses higher than 150mg should be divided into several intakes taken during the day. As a preventative treatment of depression backsets, it is necessary to take 100mg once a day.
For treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders. Fluvoxamine should be used for starting therapy in dose of 50mg per day for a period of 3-4 days. The usual efficient dose for treatment with Fluvoxamine is 100-300mg. It is recommended to slowly increase the dose for treatment until reaching the desired clinical effect, but the dose should not exceed 300mg for adult patients. Doses of 150mg or less can be taken as single-shot dose in the evening, while doses higher than 150mg should be divided into several intakes taken during the day.
For treatment of teenagers and children at age above 8 years use doses of 25mg per day, which should be taken in one intake. The dose for supporting treatment can be from 50 to 200mg per day. The daily dose, which is more than 100mg should be divided into several intakes.
When the medication gives good effect, the therapy should be carried on at the dose, chosen individually. If there is no improvement after 10 weeks of treatment, it is recommended to cancel treatment with Fluvoxamine. Selection of the dose should be done individually with caution, for supporting treatment it is better to choose the minimal efficient dose.
When using Fluvoxamine for treatment of patients with failure of kidney or liver, the treatment should start with lower doses and should be done under strict medical control.
Fluvoxamine is also not recommended for treatment of children under the age of 8 years for treatment of depressions, due to insufficient clinical experience.
According to the information from previous treatments of elderly and young patients, it is recommended to lower the doses slightly, as they are usually clinically insignificant, in terms of difference of daily doses in use.
- Counterindications
The medication is not recommended for use in treatment of patients with hypersensitivity to Fluvoxamine Maleate, or to one of the filling agents, which are components of the preparation, as well as for patients with severe liver functioning disorders. Periods of pregnancy and lactation are also in the group for restricted use of Fluvoxamine. Fluvoxamine is also not recommended for treatment of children under the age of 8 years for treatment of depressions, due to insufficient clinical experience.

When using the medication for treatment of elderly patients and teenagers, the doses for treatment should be increased slower and with greater caution. Convulsions in anamnesis, kidney and liver failure, epilepsy, bleeders, including illnesses, treated under control of a treating doctor.

- Overdosing
Common symptoms in case of getting overdosed are drowsiness, intestinal disorders (vomiting, nausea, and diarrhea), and dizziness. In some cases patients can develop failures of liver functioning, cardiac abnormalities, convulsions up to the level of coma. It is not possible to have lethal outcome even if the dose is exceeded by 100 times.

Haziness of vision, dry mouth, constipation, problems with urination and drowsiness, diarrhea and vomiting, excited state.
