- Indications for Use.
�
The medication is used for treatment of allergic illnesses (serum sickness, chronic or acute hives, pollinoses, contact dermatitis, vasomotor rhinitis, neurodermitis, Quincke’s edema caused by allergic reactions on treatment with drugs, and other), as well as for treatment of migraine (mainly caused by anti-serotonin effect), for curing of appetite loss with different origins (chronic diseases and neurogenic anorexia, and other).
Because serotonin and histamine have the ability to increase secretion of pancreatin, it is recommended to use Periactin in combined treatment of chronic pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreatic glands).
- Action
�
The medication has the effect of lowering the bodily reaction on histamines. It has preventing and soothing action on the course of allergic reactions. The medication lowers the penetrability of tubes of capillaries and prevents the tissue edemas progression.
- Posology and Administration
�
The drug should be used orally. For treatment of adult patients use 1 tablet of 4mg with 3-4 intakes per day. For treatment of children it is recommended to take the medication, depending on child�s age. For treatment of small children from age of 6 months to 2 years it is recommended to use the medication in case of severe necessity and with special care in daily dose of 0.4mg per 1 kilo. For treatment of children from 2 to 6 years old the medication should be taken in dose of 6mg per day (half a tablet taken 3 times per day). For children at age from 6 to 14 years use 12mg per day (1 tablet in three intakes per day). For treatment of adult patients the daily dose should not exceed 32mg, while for treatment of children it�s 8mg (2-6 years) and 12mg (6-14 years).
It is not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages during treatment.
- Counterindications
�
Closed-angle glaucoma, hyper sensibility, prostate gland with benign hyperplasia, pyloroduodenal blocking, urine retention, peptic ulcer stenisis, simultaneous administration of monoamine oxidase inhibitors, aptitude to edemas, elderly age of patients, periods of pregnancy and breastfeeding, childhood age under 6 months.
- Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

It is recommended to take the first dose of medication after meal in the evening.
The medication should be carefully administered for treatment of elderly people and children, as they may develop hypersensitivity, as well as to patients with hyperthyrosis, bronchial asthma in stage of anamnesis, high intraocular tension, arterial hypertension and other ilnesses of cardio-vascular system.
- Interface with Other Medications

If Cyprohepartadine is used simultantously with other medications, which have the effect of oppressing the work of central nervous system, there is a need of constant medical monitoring and control of patient�s condition, and if some problem emerges, it is recommended to cancel treatment.
- Overdosing
�
In case of overdosing in children, there is a chance of development of stiff pupil, mydriasis, hyperemia of facial skin, excitement, hyperthermia (high bodily temperature), unrest, decomposition of movements, hallucinations, athetosis (painful unwilling movements, particularly of hands, tongue and face), collapse (life threatening condition, accompanied with drop of blood tension and impairment of supply of blood), convulsions, coma.
In adult patients there might be observed such symptoms as depression, arrest, coma, convulsions, psychomotor agitation, in rare cases – hyperemia and hyperthermia of skin integuments.
- Side Effects

Drowsiness and sedative effect, weakness, unrest, dizziness, headache, ataxia, dryness of mouth, vision hallucinations, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, in some cases increase of body mass, Quincke’s edema angioedema), rash, , hives, photosensitivity, anaphylaxis (quick reaction to allergen), hypotension (low arterial tension), hemolytic anemia (increased level of destruction of red cells of blood and high concentration of their breaking in blood), tachycardia, leucopenia (lowering of number of leucocytes in blood), agranulocytosis (decrease or absence of the number of granulocytes in blood).
- Pregnancy and Lactation

The medication is not recommended for use during pregnancy. If there is a need to use it during lactation period, breast-feeding should be stopped.

Patients should stay cautious during administration of the drug, if their professional activity requires alertness and speed of psychomotor reaction.
