3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of onychomycoses caused by dermatophytes, molds and yeast fungi; skin mycoses and mycoses of oral cavity and eye�s mycosa; candidiasis with diseases of skin and diseases of mucosa, such as vulvovaginal candidiasis; systematic mycoses, such as aspergillus infection (in case of bad tolerability or resistance of amphotoricine); scaly disease of skin; cryptococcosis (such as cryptococcosis meningitis), sporotricosis, histoplasmosis, blastomycosis, paracoccidioidal granuloma.

4. Action

The synthetic medication is a anti-fungus treatment, which should be applied locally. It has a wide range of areas of use. The work of the medication is not detected.

5. Posology and Administration

The medication has to be taken right after meals orally. Swallow whole capsules. For treatment of vaginal candidiasis the medication should be taken in dose of 200mg two times a day for a period of one day or in the dose of 200mg, taken once a day, which can be taken for a period of three days. For treatment of fungous infections of skin the medication should be taken one time a day in the dose of 100mg for a period of 15 days. For treatment of mouth cavity candidiasis the medication should be taken one time a day in dose of 100mg for a period of 15 days. For treatment of fungous disease of nails the medication should be used for a period of 3 months in the dose of 200mg per day. Or the course of treatment should be repeated with one week on intake of the medication in the dose of 200mg taken two times a day and then having a break (pulse-treatment). For treatment of mycoses illness the medication should be taken in dose of 200mg per day at intervals of 2-7 months. If needed, the dose for treatment can be increased up to 200mg taken two times a day.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

When Intraconazole is used for treatment of people with chronic failure of heart, it is necessary to have individual monitoring of possible benefits and risks, taking into consideration the factors of critical indications, rate of dosage, individual factors of risk, such as valvular defect or heart disease, failure of kidney, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and other. When evidences or symptoms of heart failure appear, as well as signs of neuropathy or evidences of backward failure of heart, it is necessary to stop treatment with Intraconazole.
When treated with Intraconazolepatients should control the functioning of liver, particularly if the treatment is long-term. Patients with liver cirrhosis and patients with failure of kidney should have their dosage rate corrected.
When using Intraconazole for treatment of women in child-bearing age, it is recommended that they use appropriate methods of contraception during the whole course of treatment and until the first menstruation after the treatment.

9. Overdosing

10. Side Effects

Side effects on gastrointestinal tract: nausea, dyspepsia, pain in stomach, vomiting, hepatitis, anorexia, constipation, increment in the activity of liver transaminases, in very seldom cases – severe disruption of toxic liver, such as conditions of acute failure of liver with a lethal outcome.

  Side effects on sense organs and nervous system: dizziness, headache, peripheric neuropathy, drowsiness, fatigability.

Side effects on blood (blood stasis and blood formation) and cardio-vascular system: arterial hypotension. There were also cases, when chronic failure of heart was noticed, connected with Itraconazole therapy.

Side effects on genitourinary system: syndrome of edema, dysmenorrhea, albuminuria, darkening of urine color.

Reactions of allergies: hives, skin itching, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, angioedema.

Other side effects: hypocalcemia, alopecia, fluid lungs, impotency, lowering of libido.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

The medication can only be applied in the period of pregnancy for treatment of system mycoses, when the expected favor exceeds the potential risks for the fetus. It is necessary to stop breast-feeding during treatment, as medication is excreted into breast-milk.
