3. Indications for Use.

Should be used in case of hypertonic disease (irregular increases of arterial tension) and failure of heart.

4. Action

Quinapril has valodilatory effect, it lowers preload and afterload on heart, as well as it lowers resistance in pulmonary arteries. It also increased the heart volume per minute and tolerance of efforts.

5. Posology and Administration

Quinapril should be used for treatment of adult patients. It should be administered orally, with the usual starting dose of 0.01g taken one or two times per day. After three weeks of treatment the dose can be increased further. Maximum dose taken in single time should not exceed 0.02g, while the maximum daily dose should be no more than 0.04g.
The dose which should be taken daily can be administered either once or divided in two doses, which should be taken in the morning and in the evening. The doses can be taken with or without a meal.
Length of the course of treatment should be defined individually.

6. Counterindications

Quinckes edema, kidney and liver functioning of compromised evidenced condition, stenosis of arteries in double renal stage or arteriosnenosis of kidney, after kidney grafting state or other different problems with outflow of blood from left ventricle, hypersensitivity to Quinapril or pregnancy.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

If hypersensitive to Quinapril, are likely to develop edemas, diminution or stenosis of arteries in the kidney, after grafting state of kidney, aorta diminution, mitral valve diminution, autopathic or disputable non-inflammatory disease of heart, disturbance of hormonal levels, breast-feeding or pregnancy. The medication should not be taken by children less than 14 years old. Quinapril should be taken with caution by patients, whose professional and everyday activity needs alertness and fast response (for example those driving vehicles or operating machinery). It is not advised to drink alcohol during treatment with Quinapril.

8. Interface with Other Medications

9. Overdosing

Symptoms: acute arterial hypotension.

10. Side Effects

Possible side effects include dizziness and headaches, decrease of arterial tension, when rising into vertical positions from a horizontal one, cardiac rhythm disorders, worsening of ischemic heart or brain diseases, peripheral circulation impairment, disorders of sleeping, ear buzz, diarrhea, nausea. In very rare cases patients might face compromised functioning of kidney, is special cases might have progressing angioneurotic edema (allergic edema), leucopenia (lowered level of blood leukocytes).
