3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of backward failure of heart, arterial hypertension (combined treatment or mono therapy), cardiomyopathy, dysfunction of left ventricle for patients with consistent health conditions after having had diabetic neuropathy on the background of type I diabetes and myocardial infarction.

4. Action

Captopril has the ability to lower the overall peripheral vascular resistance and lower the afterload and preload. The medication has the ability to lower tension in lesser circulation and in the right atrium. Captopril lowers the general resistance of peripheral vascular system.

5. Posology and Administration

If a patient has hypertension of arteries Captopril should be used in doses from 12.5 to 50mg administered 2-3 times per day. For treatment of renovascular hypertension the medication should be used in dose of 12.5mg 3 times per day. The highest allowed dose is 150mg per day. Take Captopril on empty stomach.

6. Counterindications

The medication should not be administered to people, who are hypersensitive to it, as well as for people, who had transplantation of kidney, are liable to edemas (in case of bilateral or unilateral narrowing of renal arteries), for people with narrowing of mitral or aortal valve, as well as for people in the period of pregnancy or breast-feeding.

Use of Captopril in children can be done, it this decision is made by a doctor. It is recommended to use the medication very cautiously for treatment of people at age of 65 or older. Monitor kidney functioning before starting intake of the medication. 9. Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed: stroke, significant lowering of arterial tension, myocardial infarction, harried respiration, labored breath and angioedema.

10. Side Effects

Side effects on nervous system and sense organs: dizziness, fatigability, headache, drowsiness, CNS depression, confusion of consciousness, choking sensation, depression, starvation for oxygen, disorders of sense of smell and vision, convulsions, pricky or benumbed sensation in the limbs.
Side effects on cardio-vascular system and blood: stenocardia, low arterial tension, myocardial infarction, acute stroke, heart rhythm disorder, increased size of lymph nodes, chest pain, anemia, disorders of composition of blood, clots in general current of blood and in pulmonary artery.
Side effects on respiratory system: labored breath, bronchospasm, unproductive dry cough.
On the part of intestinal tract organs: taste disorder, loss of appetite, stomatitis, dryness of mouth cavity, cankers of mucus coating of stomach and mouth cavity, swelling of gums, vomiting, nausea, aglutition, digestive upset, stomach pains, excessive flatulence, diarrhea or constipation, liver injury, pancreatitis.
Side effects on genitourinary system: quantitive lowering of the amount of urination, compromised kidney function, impotency, urinary albumin excretion.
Side effects on skin inguments: rash, blush, itching.
Reactions of allergies: hives, allergic shock, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, Quincke’s edema, other.
Other side effects: chilly sensation, elevation of the temperature of body.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Before using Captopril for treatment of women of child-bearing age, it is recommended to do a pregnancy test. It is recommended for women of child-bearing age to use appropriate contraception methods during treatment. If pregnancy occurs during treatment with Captopril, it is recommended to consult with a doctor about substituting the medication with some other drug, which will be less harmful for the baby. Treatment with Captopril, particularly during the last 6 months of pregnancy, can be especially harmful for the fetus.
