3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of infections, caused by bacterial microorganisms, which are sensitive to the medication, such as diseases of ENT-organs )tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis, pharingitis and other), diseases of breathing passages (pneumonia, bronchitis, ampyema, abscess of lungs and other.), infections of urinary tracts (cystitis, pyelonephritis, gonorrhea, asymptomatic bacteriuria, and other), infections of bones and joints (septic arthritis, osteomyelit and other), of soft tissues and skin (impetigo, rose, furunculosis, pyodermia, phlegmon, erysipeloid, wound infection and other), of pelvic organs (adnexitis, endometritis, cervicitis, pervicitis), meningitis, sepsis, borreliosis (Lyme disease), for prevention of aggravations of infections during chest organs surgery, or surgery of pelvis, abdominal cavity, joints (as well as surgery of heart, lungs, alimentary canal, in surgeries on vascular systems when there is a high risk of aggravation of infections, in orthopedic operations).

4. Action

Cefuroxime is a medication, which has antibacterial action against both gram-positive and gram-negative miscoorganisms. The medication is effective for treatment of various diseases with infections, caused by microorganisms, which are sensitive to Cefuroxime.

5. Posology and Administration

Administration regime and dosage of Cefuroxime should be defined individually, depending on the severity of disease, infection�s localization, as well as depending on sensitivity to the causative agent.
For treatment of adults use oral intake of 125-500mg two times a day. For treatment of gonorrhea use 1g taken in single-shot. For treatment of children above the age of 5 years take 125-500mg two times a day or use suspension in the amount of 1000mg per day. The course of treatment can be from 5 to 10 days or longer.

6. Counterindications

Neonatal period, hypersensitivity, prematurity, diseases and bleedings of intestinal tract (including chance for development of ulcerative colitis of nonspecific form), chronic failure of renal, period of pregnancy and lactation, in emaciated and hyposthenic patients.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

For long-term treatment it is advised to perform control of functioning of kidney (especially when treated with high doses) and ensure dysbacteriosis prevention. It is advised to lower dose for treatment of patients, who have problems with kidney functioning (especially in case of sensitivity to causative agent and evidenced renal failure).

8. Interface with Other Medications

Advise with your doctor about possibility of combining Cefuroxime with other drugs.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed include: convulsions, central excitatory condition.

10. Side Effects

Reactions of allergies: rashes, hives, itching, cold fit, bronchial spasm, anaphylactic shock, appearance of malign rash of skin. Side effects on genitourinary system:initis, vaitching in crotch. Side effects on central nervous system: convulsions. Side effects on urinary system: acraturesis )urine overaccumulation), renal dysfunction. Side effects on alimentary system: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, pain and spasms in the stomach, appearance of rashes in the cavity of mouth, ulceration of mucus coating of the cavity of mouth. Side effects on sense organs: hearing impairment. Side effects on blood-forming organs: anemia.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Cefuroxime is not recommended for use in the period of pregnancy. Breast-feeding should be stopped during treatment with Cefuroxime.
