3. Indications for Use.
- the medication lowers the symptoms of osteoarthritis (arthritis caused by changes of age of junctions and bones);
- lowering of signs of rheumatoid arthritis in adult patients;
- lowering of the level of pains in adult patients (for example, short-termed pain, that can be caused by prior general or dental surgery);
- treatment of menstrual cycles, which are accompanied by pain;
- lowering of the number of polyps in the straight and large intestine for patients who have a family form of adenomatous polyposis, as well as those, suffering from diseases accompanied by covering of the straight and large intestine with multiple polyps.
4. Action
Celecoxib has a pain relieving and anti-inflammatory action.
It works by lowering the severity of junctions� pain, decreasing their stiffness and swelling, lowers the severity of the unctions� pain and improving their function abilities for patients, who have rheumatoid arthiritis or osteoarthritis.
5. Posology and Administration
For treatment of osteoarthritis: use 200 mg taken one time daily or 100 mg taken two times per day
For treatment of rheumatoid arthritis: take 100 – 200 mg two times a day.
For pain relieving the starting dose should be 400 mg, then 200 mg two a day, if needed.
6. Counterindications
Do not take the medication if you have (or have ever had):
- an allergic reactions for sulfo-drugs;
- problems with asthma, allergic reactions or hives after being treated with aspirin or any other non-steroid anti-inflammatory medications, or selectively cyclooxigenasa-2;
- diseases of kidney;
- if you are pregnant, particularly in the last three months of pregnancy.
Patients, who are sensitive to aspirin are not recommended to take Celebrex, as it may cause bronchospasms (serious diminution of airways), which can lead to death.
7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
- you are about to become pregnant, you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding;
- you have or have previously had stenocardia, blocking or heart arteries or heart attack;
- you have problems with kidney functioning;
- you have problems with liver functioning;
- you have failure of heart;
- you have high tension of arteries;
- you have hydrops or liquid retention;
- you are allergic to aspirin or any other non-steroid anti-inflammatory medications;
- you had severe problems with stomach;
- you had or you currently have any other health problems.
8. Interface with Other Medications
Inform your treating doctor about any other medications, which you are currently taking or have taked recently, including non-prescription and prescription medicines, vitamins and natural additives. Interface of Celebrex with many other drugs and medications can cause undesirable outcomes, such as worsening of side effects or lowering of performance of both medications.
9. Overdosing
There is only limited information about overdosing available. After voluntary testings, where patients took doses of 1200mg one and two times a day, it was noticed that even repeated intake of such dose does not develop any serious clinical side effects. If you suspect that you got overdosed, inform your doctor immediately.
10. Side Effects
- stomach pain, gastropathy, nausea, heartburn, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia;
- dizziness, headache, insomnia or sleepiness, agitation, depression;
- buzzing in ears, hearing loop;
- tachycardia, increased arterial tension;
- decreased sustainability against infections of respiratory passages (rhinitis, sinusitis, pharygintis), labored breathing, pain in throat, bronchospasms, cough;
- edema syndrome, renal failure;
- hives and rashes of skin;
- elevated perspiration, alopecia, hemorrhoid and womb bleeding.
In case of treatment for a long-term and with big doses, there is a chance of development of ulceration of bowels� mucosa, bleedings of gums, bleeding of intestinals, improper functioning of liver.
The medication is likely to cause development of hydrops and retardation of liquid. If you have renal failure or high arterial tension, this problem can be serious for you.
11. Pregnancy and Lactation
It is not allowed to take Celebrex during the last trimester of pregnancy, as it can seriously harm the baby. Inform your doctor, if you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. If there is a need to apply Celebrex in the period of breast-feeding, it is recommended to consider stopping of breast-feeding.

It is unlikely that the medication has any influence on the ability to drive automobiles or operate machinery.
