Indications for Use.

used for treatment of different forms of psychotic illnesses, accompanied with delirium hallucinations, schizophrenia, as well as treatment of weaken patients. Can be used for patients in young and elderly age.

Action

The medication shows anti-psychotic action in a specific specter. Its effect is accompanied with selective anti-delirium and anti-hallucination activity. Prochlorperazine does not help eliminate psychomotor excitement.

Posology and Administration

The medication administration should be set individually, with the treatment performed under severe doctor�s control. This description of Prochlorperazine is not written for self-admimistration!
The medication should be used for treatment of adults in dosed of 0.0125-0.025g per day, which should be divided in 2-3 intakes. The daily dose can be increased slowly by 0,00125—0,0025 g in one day to reach the level of o.15-0.3g. The highest allowed dose per day is 0.4g. The treatment can be as long and 2-3 month or even more in some cases.

Counterindications

0,00125—0,0025 g is not recommended for use in patients with impaired functioning of liver, such as hepatitis or cirrhosis, or Hemolytic icterus, patients with kidney failure, such as nephritis, impaired functioning of organs, involved in blood formation, myxedema (severe lowering of thyroid gland functioning with hydrops), decompensated failures of cardiac, systematic progressive diseases of spinal cord and brain, thromnoembolic blood diseases (such as occlusion of blood vessels with blood clotting).

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Contradictions are relatively applied to patients with kidney stone diseas, cholelithiasis, uteropyelitis (acute pyelitis), rheumatic carditis or rheumatic disease. The medication should be used in the form of intramuscular injections, instead of oral administration for treatment of patient with ulcer disease of duodenal and stomach. The medication is not allowed for administration in patients, who are in comatose stated or unconscious patients, including situations, which are associated with intake of drug based on narcotic substance, dopes or alcohol. It is necessary to control functioning of kidney and liver, as well as picture of blood during treatment. The medication is not intended for use as an excitement cancellation method in case of acute traumas.

Interface with Other Medications

Overdosing

There is a chance of development of anomalous motions of muscles and tremors, if the medication is taken in a big dose.

Side Effects

Apathy, drowsiness, extrapyramidal diseases. The chance of getting extrapyramidal diseases is over 60% for patients treated with Prochlorperazine.

Pregnancy and Lactation

it is not allowed to use medication for treatment of pregnant women.
When treated with Comprazine breast-feeding should ne ceased.
