3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of weak and moderate conditions of Alzheimer type moral debility (in case of diagnosed or apparent disease of Alzheimer).

4. Action

Therapy with Rivastigmine has the ability to seriously smoothen the Alzheimer disease manifestations, such as loss of memory and fatigability.

5. Posology and Administration

The medication should be administered orally in the process of meal. The starting dose should be around 1.5mg, which should be taken twice a day (if hypersensitive to the medication, take 1mg two times a day). If Rivastigmine is well-tolerated, it is allowed to increase the dose after two weeks of treatment up to 3mg, which should be taken two times a day. Later then dose can as well be increased with the interval of two weeks up to 4.5 and 6mg per day. The dose for supporting treatment is 1.5-6mg taken twice a day. The highest allowed daily dose is 12mg per day. The dose should be kept on the best possible level of tolerance in order to maintain the best effect of the therapy.

6. Counterindications

The medication is not allowed in case of breastfeeding and if hypersensitive to Rivastigmine.
Use of drug should be limited in case of duodenal illness, stomach ulcers, syndrome of sick sinus, arrhythmia, urinary track obstruction (prostate gland adenoma), broncho-obstructive syndrome, closed angle glaucoma or convulsions.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

If there are some side effects visible in the process of therapy, they can be decresed if missing one or two doses of medicine. If the side effects continue, then the every-day dose of medication should be lowered to the previous level, which was tolerated. In case of problematic functioning of liver or kidney, there is no need to adjust a dose.

8. Interface with Other Medications

In case if you need to combine some other medications with treatment by Rivastigmine, consult your doctor first, if this combination will be safe, and if there are no contradictions for applications of these medicines.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea.

Side effects on nervous system and sense bodies: asthenia, headaches, dizziness, increased fatigability, drowsiness, insomnia, agitation, depression, disorientation, tremor in limbs.
Side effects on GIT bodies: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pains, lowered appetite, abdominal swelling.
Other side effects: perspiration, allergy reactions, loss of body weight, upper air passage infections and infections of urinoextretory ways.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

It is allowed to use the medication in the period of pregnancy only in case if there is an extreme emergency and if there is no alternative medication. It is recommended to seize breast-feeding in the process of treatment.

12. Driving

There has not been any observation sof disordered motor functioning in patients, who are taking Rivastigmine. Treating doctor should regularly determine the ability of his patient with Alzheimer disease to drive automobiles or operate machinery.
