3. Indications for Use.
Should be used for treatment of: Symptomatic treatment of prostate gland benign hyperplasia (adenoma)
Arterial hypertension (significant elevation of arterial tension).
Chronic failure of heart (in the beginning).

4. Action
The medication has the effect of lowering the peripheral resistance, causes dilatation of arteries and veins, lowers the venour return to the heart, has the effect of a hypotensive treatment. The effect usually lasts for 24 hours. The medication has favorable effect on normalization of the exchange of lipid: lowers cholesterin, LDL, triglycerides and lowers the density content of liproproteins in blood, it can also increase the amount of high density liproproteins. In case if the medication is taken systematically, it is likely to have regression of hypertrophy of left ventitricle.
The medication blocks alpha1-adrenoreceptors in prostate gland�s smooth muscles and in the urinary bladder neck, thus normalizing urination process in patients, who have hyperttophy of prostate gland in benign stage.

5. Posology and Administration
As a preventative measure, the medication should be taken for the first time, starting with a dose of 1mg (for undue lowering of tension). The dose should be taken before going to sleep to make sure that after the intake a patient stays in bed for at least 6-8 hours.

For treatment of arterial hypertension: the starting dose should be not less than 1mg, which then can be increased up to 5mg per day, which can be taken in one or two intakes. The highest allowed daily dose is 20mg. Dose for supporting treatmaent is 1-10mg, which should be taken one time a day.
If the intake of medication was temporarily stopped, when the treastment renews, it can start from the regime, at which it was stopped.

For treatment of prostate gland adenoma: at the beginning, start with 1-2 mg, and later increase the dose as necessary up to 5 mg (until proper clinical performance is achieved). The medication works best if taken before going to sleep.
If the treatment needs to be stopped, the dose should be withdrawn gradually in a period of several days.
Therapeutic effect of the medication becomes visible after intake for 2 weeks. For best performance it is necessary to continue the treatment course for at least 4-6 weeks.

6. Counterindications
Low arterial tension (hypotension), hypersensitivity to drug components, childhood age, pregnancy, breast-feeding.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
Start the treatment with the smallest effective doze (take 1mg per day before going to sleep) in order to prevent the first doze phenomenon. It is necessary to stay in bed for at least 6-8 hours after intake. The probability of getting the first dose phenomenon (emergence of orthostatic hypotension) is at its maximum after the first 30-90 minutes following the intake of medication, and it is elevated in people, who simultaneously take diuretics and beta-adrenergic blockers, combined with reducing the liquid volume in the body and using hyposalt diet, as well as in case of resuming the treatment with medication after several days of intake break. If the treatment is temporarily stopped, it should be started again with the same dose after a break. The concentration of specific antigen in prostate glands does not change in the process of treatment. Eliminate any signs of prostate gland cancer before starting treatment of prostate gland benign hyperplasia. Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment in 4-6 weeks of therapy with supporting dose. Inform your patient about the high risk of getting orthostatic hypotension, because of using ethanol, doing physical exercises or in case of long-term standing, as well as in hot weather.

8. Interface with Other Medications
The medication increases the effect from some medications. In the mean time, some other medication have the ability to lower effect from Terazosin or increase the risk of emergence of side effects. Inform your doctor if you are taking some other medications.

9. Overdosing
Symptoms of getting overdosed include: hypotension, tachycardia, orthostatic collapse. For treatment of these conditions put the patient into horizontal position with a droop cap end of the bed, use intravenous liquid injection and hypertensive drugs.

10. Side Effects
Sleepiness, weakness, anxiety, fatigue, headache, parenthesis, dizziness, lowering of libido, noise in ears, disruption of vision, phenomenon of first dose (significant lowering of AT up to orthostatic collapse following the first intake), tachycardia, hypotension, arrhythmias, cough, peripheral hydrops, bronchitis, vomiting, nausea, dry mouth, arthralgia, pharyngitis, myalgia, leucopenia, lowering of hemoglobin and hematocrit indexes, hypoalbuminemia, syndromes of flu, hypoproteinemia, reactions of allergiies.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation
The medication is forbidden for use in pregnant women, women in the period of breast-feeding and for treatment of children.

12. Driving
It is not advised to take part in any hazardous activities or do work, which needs elevated concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions, especially during 12 hours after the first intake and in case of intensification or stopping of treatment.
