1.  General Information 

Unpatented trade denomination of the VIAGRA preparation: unpatented VIAGRA.  Internationaldenomination:  Cildenaphil (form of Cildenaphil Citrate).   

Pharmacotherapeutic group. 

VIAGRA is the number of medication, which represents the new group of drugs, named as phosphodiesterasa inhibitors of type 5. The medication has the effect of broadening the vessels of blood in the penis during sexual excitement. This effect causes reflux of blood to the penis, which causes normal process of erection.  

Active substance. 

Active substance of VIAGRA is Cildenaphil. One pill of the medication consists of 25, 50 or 100mg of Cyldenaphil (in the form of Cildenaphil Citrate).   

Non-active components.

VIAGRA besides Cildenafil contains other non-active components, which include:

hydrogenphosfate of calcium (anhydrous), microcrystal cellulose, natrium crosscarmellosa, hypromellosa, magnesium stearate, dioxide of titanium (Y 171), indigo carmine, lactose, aluminium varnish (Е132), tryacetine. 

2. Indications for application 

VIAGRA should be used for treatment of male patients, who have disorders of erections, which can as well be called impotency. Impotency is a health condition, when a man is not able to have erection, sufficient for a sexual intercourse. VIAGRA is only effective, when there is sexual excitement. It does not have any affect on the reproductive system.  

3. Counter indications 

It is NOT ALLOWED to take VIAGRA for patients who:

In the past had allergic reactions to VIAGRA or any other components of the medication. Allergic reactions can be accompanied with itching, rash, edemas on the lips and face, short breath and other. In case if you develop such symptoms, inform your doctor immediately.

If you are currently taking medications, containing donators of oxide of nitrogen or nitrates (which are used for treatment of stenocardia), as VIAGRA has the ability to cause stronger effect from these medications. Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking such medicines.  

4. Warnings 

Inform your doctor before intake of VIAGRA if you have any of the following health problems:

cancer of blood cells (leukemia),

changes in red cells of blood (crescent cell anemia),

marrow bone cancer (multiple myeloma)

deformation or diseases of the penis.

In the process of treatment with drugs, which affect the disorders of erection patients with the following diseases should take special precaution:

pigment retinitis (rare disease of eyes),

diseases and ulcers of stomach, accompanied with bleedings (for example hemophilia). If a patient has such diseases VIAGRA might have the ability to cause adverse negative reactions.  

It is not recommended to take VIAGRA for treatment in combination with other drugs, which are used for treatment of erectile dysfunctions.  

Use in children.

VIAGRA should not be used for treatment of children.  

Use of VIAGRA for treatment of elderly patients and patients with diseases of liver and kidney.

VIAGRA has not special recommendations for use in elderly patients as well as for patient with problems with liver or kidney. There is also no need to be especially cautious, when driving vehicles or operating machinery.  

Interaction with other medications.

Before starting treatment, tell your doctor about all the medications, which you are taking, as VIAGRA has the ability to interact with some drugs. VIAGRA can cause adverse negative reactions, especially with such medications, which contain nitrates or nitrogen oxide donators (such as medications, used for treatment of stenocardia). It is forbidden to take VIAGRA if you are taking such medications!  

Overdose.

It is not advised to use the medication in bigger doses than it was prescribed by your doctor. It is not allowed to take more than one pill per day. In case if you have applied more tablets, than you were prescribed, inform your attending doctor as soon as possible.  

5.  Directions for use and doses. 

Your attending doctor should decide about the doses for treatment with VIAGRA. The average dose used for treatment by most of men is 50mg, but it should be defined depending on individual tolerance and efficiency of treatment. If necessary the dose should be increased up to the level of 100mg or should be reduced down to 25mg.     

VIAGRA has to be taken 30 minutes to 1 hour before sexual activity. The pills should be swallowed in whole, without chewing and rinsed with a small amount of water. It is not allowed to take VIAGRA more often than once a day. VIAGRA will give erection only in case of sexual stimulation, so the medication does not cause spontaneous erection, unless there is sexual stimulation. The effect from VIAGRA starts individually from 30 minutes to 1 hour following the intake, and lasts for 4-6 hours. If you are taking VIAGRA right after a big meal, the effect may appear a little later than usually. Alcohol intake may cause temporary problems with erection, so it is not recommended to drink alcohol when using VIAGRA, especially in big doses.  

If VIAGRA does not give you desired effects or if the effect of treatment does not last long enough to complete sexual activity, inform your doctor about it.  

6.  Side effects. 

VIAGRA has the ability to cause many side effects and reactions. In majority of cases such side effects and not persistent and are light and moderately shown. Most often side effects include flash and headaches. In rare cases the medication can cause problems with digestion, stuffiness of nose, faintness and chances of vision (high-light, discoloration and blurring of vision).
