Indications for Use.

For treatment of chronic heart failure and arterial hypertension.

Action

Indapamide lowers the contractility of fibers of vessels in smooth muscle. It positive influences the blood tension fall.

Posology and Administration

The medication is made for oral administration in the amount of 2.5 or 1.5 mg every day. It is better to take Indapamide in the morning.
If the effect of Indapamide is not efficient after two weeks of treatment, the dose can be increased to the level of 5-7.5mg per day.
The maximum daily dose should not exceed 10mg and should be taken in two intakes before afternoon.
It has not been yet determined, if the medication is safe and sufficient for use in children.

Counterindications

Stroke, improper functioning of liver, hypersensitivity, diabetes decompensation, breastfeeding and pregnancy (not allowed to breast-feed in the process of treatment).

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Patients with podagra and diabetes, as well as patients who have problems with compromised functioning of liver or kidney should administer the medication with caution.

Interface with Other Medications

Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed: vomiting, nausea, weakness, intestinal tract dysfunction, imbalance of electrolytes or water, in some cases – depression of respiratory system, serious decrease of arterial tension. Progression of hepatic coma is a possibility for patients, whp have cirrhosis of liver.

Side Effects

Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, decreased appetite, vomiting, dryness of mouth. Headaches, nervousness, dizziness, insomnia, drowsiness, elevated fatigability, depression, sickliness, apathy, muscle spasms, anxiety, strains, irritability. Chest pains, lowered level of libido and potency, lowering of body weight. Allergic reactions include hives, rashes and itching.

Pregnancy and Lactation

The safety of Indapamide has not been precisely studied on people in the period of pregnancy and lactation. Therefore treatment with Indapamide for such patients is not advised.

Driving

It is recommended to stay away from activities, which can be potentially hazardous and those, which need alertness and speed of psychomotor reaction.
