Indications for Use.

Lovastatin is developed to be used for treatment of patients, who have primary hypercholesteremia (excessive cholesterin in blood), which is combined with high LDP content (low lipoproteins density), in case of absence of curative effect of therapy with diet, in case of treatment of patients with triglyceredermia (elevated blood content of triglycerides, and in treatment of patients with atherosclerosis.

Action

Lovastatin has the ability to suppress the cholesterine formation in body.

Posology and Administration

Lovastatin should be taken orally with a meal. In case of treatment of hypercholesteremia take 10-20mg in single-use at the time of dinner. In case of treatment of atherosclerosis, take 20-40mg. In case of insufficiency of therapy the dose can be increased at a 4-week interval to the level of 60-80mg, which can be taken in one or two intakes.

Counterindications

Acute disease of liver, evidenced failure of liver, pregnancy, period of lactation, hypersensitivity, overall bad conditions of patient�s health, childhood, teenage and adolescents under 18 years old, as the efficiency and safety of medication has not been defined.

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Take medication with caution, if you have chronic alcoholism, disease of liver, chronic failure of kidney, grafting, surgery on kidney or dentist surgery, immunodepressive concomitant therapy.

Pregnancy and Lactation

It is not allowed to use Lovastatin in the period of pregnancy. It is recommended to stop breast-feeding if Lovastatin treatment is necessary in the process of lactation.
