3. Indications for Use.
Used for treatment of infections, caused by viruses:
- herpes of genitals,
- herpetic gingivostomatitis,
- zoster herpes,
- chicken pox and measles,
- flu of type A and B,
- hepatitis A, B, hepatitis C in chronic form (if alpha-interferons were not used for previous treatment,
- provoked by virus of respiratory-syncytial.

5. Posology and Administration
For treatment of flu take medication orally with meals and use for treatment of adult patients doses of 0.2g, which should be taken 3-4 times per day for a period of 3-5 days. For treatment of other diseases, caused by viruses use 0.3 grams in 3-4 intakes for a period of 1-2 weeks or 10 days. For treatment of acute infections it is allowed to use a high dose on the first day in single-shot for knock-out in the amount of 1.4-1.6g. For treatment of children use 10mg per 1kilo per day. For treatment of infections, caused by viruses of respiratory cyncytial use losution for treatment of children. Solution should be used by means of inhalation in the dose of 20mg/ml in a day, using apparatus reservoir of SPAG-2 for 12-18 hours each day for a period of 3-7 days. For treatment of hepatitis C medication should be taken with meals orally in the dose of 1000-1200mg per day two times � in the morning and in the evening. If the mass of body exceeds 75kg, it is recommended to take 1000mg per day (morning - 2 capsules, evening � 3 capsules). Treatment can be as long as half a year. For treatment of patients, who were not treated with a previous therapy for genotype 1 virus and patients with high load for viral (with RNA hepatitis viruses concentration in blood) should be treated for additional 24 weeks.
If during treatment with Rebetol you eat meals, which are high on fat, efficiency of medication will be increased.
6. Counterindications
– thyroid gland disease;
– serious diseases of heart, if previously had treatment at least during 6 months;
– devastating illnesses of severe forms;
– defect of the level of Hb;
– severe depression, suicidal attempts or suicidal thoughts;
– cirrhosis of liver or serious compromised functioning of liver;
– pregnancy;
– autoimmune diseases (such as autoimmune hepatitis);
– lactation and breastfeeding periods;
– hypersensitivity to Ribavirin or any components of the medication.
7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
Patients at the age suitable for childbearing should take efficient contraception methods during treatment and minimum 7 months after.
Before starting treatment of elderly patients, it is recommended to check functioning of kidney.
The medication should be used cautiously and only after medical check-up for treatment of patients with illnesses of cardio-vascular system, diabetes and serious lungs pathology.
It has not been determined if the medication is safe for use in treatment of teenagers and children, therefore using Rebetol in patients of this age group is not advised.
8. Interface with Other Medications
In many cases Rebetol can be used in combination with other drugs, used for treatment of viruses. Inform your doctor if you are currently taking or if you are planning to take any drugs, including medications, which are used without prescription.
9. Overdosing
No adverse effects were seen in case of getting overdosed on the medication.
10. Side Effects

- skin rash;
- anemia.
11. Pregnancy and Lactation
Rebetol is not recommended for treatment of women, who are pregnancy or breast-feeding.
Before starting treatment with Rebetol women should take a pregnancy test and only should be treated if the test is negative. The testing should be done right before starting treatment with the medication.
12. Driving
It is not allowed to drive automobiles and operate machinery to people, who experience dizziness, tiredness and disorientation in process of treatment.
