Indications for Use.

Is used for treatment of hypertension in arteries and in case of chronic failure of heart.

Action

Treatment with Perindopril helps lower the risk of appearance of periodical repeating infarctions of myocardial as well as for encouragement of proper heart functioning.

Posology and Administration

The dose for the beginning of treatment should be around 1-2 mg per day, which should be taken in one intake. Dose for supporting therapy is from 2-4 mg taken daily for therapy of backward failure of heart, 4mg (rarely up to 8mg) for treatment and therapy of arterial hypertension. The drug should always be administered in one intake.

Counterindications

Should not be used for people with hypersensitivity to Perindopril, and those having anamnesis angioedema. Children and pregnant and breast-feeding women should not take the medication.

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

The medicine should be taken with caution if a person suffers from failure of kidney or hypertension of arteries.
Prior to starting treatment with the medication, all patients should be advised to undergo kidney functioning tests.
No alcohol should be taken during treatment and proper contraception should be used as well. If any surgical interventions happen in the period of therapy (like dentist surgeries), they should be carried out with special attention. If you miss a dose, do not take two doses in your next intake.

Overdosing

Symptoms of overdose are lowered arterial tension and quinckes edema.

Side effects on the respiratory system: possibility of dry cough.
Side effects on the intestinal system: dryness of mouth, upset digestion, disorders of taste.
Side effects on the central nervous system: sleep impairment, headache, mood disorders, dizzy feelings; in some cases may cause convulsions.
Side effects on the blood formation: hemoglobin diminution (especially happens at the start of treatment); rare – diminution of the amount of erythrocytes and/or thrombocytes.
Allergy reactions: rashes of skin, angioedema, skin itching, erythema.
Others: sexual disorders.

Pregnancy and Lactation

It is not allowed to use Perindopril for treatment in the oeriod of pregnancy and lactation or breast-feeding.

Driving

Perindopril should be administered with caution for people whose daily activities include driving and operation of machinery.
