3. Indications for Use.
Problems of mental functioning as a result of brain lesion, mostly in elderly age, Alzheimer disease in adults and elderly patients in light and medium stages of severity (performs treatment of symptoms).
4. Action
Donepezil Hcl has the effect of slowing down the development of Alzheimer disease, it decreases the symptoms of manifestation. In some cases Donepezil Hcl can have the effect of restoration of diurnal activity in patients, and it also facilitates care. The drug has the effect of correction of such disorders of behavior as: hallucinations, apathy, unconscious repeatedly motions.
5. Posology and Administration
The treatment should be prescribed and administration should be performed by an experienced doctor, who knows the problems of Alzheimer illness.
Adults and patients of elderly age are advised to be administered with starting dose of 5mg taken once a day. The initial dosage administration should continue for at least 4-6 weeks of treatment, which is required to reach the Donepezil Hcl equilibrium concentration and to see the clinical effect of the treatment. After 1 month of treatment dosage can be gradually increased up to 10mg per day.
The daily dose should not exceed 10 mg.

6. Counterindications
Donepezil Hcl is not allowed for use in the period of pregnancy and lactation, for treatment of children under 18 years old, for people, suffering from disorder of muscle activity, problems with organs of breathing, arrhythmia, duodenal ulcers and other diseases, as well as in patients, who have personal inability to tolerate the active ingredient of Donepezil Hcl and its other components.
7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
It is recommended to start and perform therapy under strict medical control of a professional doctor or a nurse of appropriate specialization, who should control the administration and dosage of drug. It is not possible to foresee the effect of Donepezil Hcl individually. The medication should be taken when there is arrythmias concomitant, diseases of ulcers, lung diseases, such as ulcers in bronchi.

8. Interface with Other Medications

9. Overdosing

Other side effects include development of swift muscle fatigability, which in some cases may result in fatal outcome, especially in case of possible damage to the muscles of respiratory system.

Dyspepsia, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, dizzy feelings, headaches, growing fatigability, faintness, insomnia, irregular heart-beating, convulsions of muscles, hallucinating, aggression in behavior, qualms, attacks of epilepsy, disorder of blood composition.
11. Pregnancy and Lactation
Donepezil Hcl is not allowed for use during the period of pregnancy and should not be prescribed, if a woman is breast-feeding.
