Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of infections, caused by bacterial microorganisms, such as infections of lower parts of air passage (pneumonia, bronchitis, atypical pneumonia), as well as of upper air passage (such as pharingitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, laryngitis). It can be also applied for treatment of skin and soft body tissues (such as infections of wounds, impetigo, furunculosis, and pholliculitis), for treatment of duodenal or gastric ulcers, ititis media, infections caused by chlamydia, mycrobacteriosis.

Action

The action of the drug is performed in the extra and intracellular activity, where it works as a causative agent. Biaxin operates with different bacteria in human body.

Posology and Administration

The administration of this drug should be defined individually and should be taken orally. For treatment of adults and children over 12 years of age it is advised to give single-time dosage of 0.25-1g, which should be taken up to 2 times a day.
For treatment of children under 12 years of age the daily dose should be equal to 15mg per one kg of weight per day, which should be split in two separate intakes.
Length of the treatment varies, depending on the health conditions.
Patients, who suffer from dysfunction of renal, should be administered with twice smaller dose than the regular one, or the interval between doses should be increased.
Maximum dose should not exceed 2g per day for adults and 1g per day for children.

Counterindications

In case of problems with kidney or liver functioning, in newly born children, who are less than half a year old (the safety of administration has not yet been defined).

Interface with Other Medications

Biaxin in combination with other medication may cause dangerous side effects, therefore it is not allowed to administer the medication without doctor�s consultation.

Overdosing

Overdosage symptoms include vomiting, nausea and diarrhea, as well as stomach spasms.

Side Effects

Possible side effects include liver impairment (skin getting yellow, or yellowing of eyes� whites, pains and aching feelings in the stomach, allergic reactions, such as obstruction of airflow, airways narrowing, lips edema, tongue and face edema or rashes, unexplained bleeding, hematomas, serious tiredness.
The described above symptoms are more rare. More usual and less serious side effects include: diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, stomach pains, fatigability, headaches, dizzy feelings, rashes, yeast of vagina.
The medication might cause other side effects, which are not described here. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice any of the described side effects or any other improper reaction to treatment.

Pregnancy and Lactation

It is only allowed to use Biaxing treatment during pregnancy if the expected effects of the treatment are more significant, than the potential risk of harming the fetus, and in case if there is no alternative therapy available. If you become pregnant in the process of treatment with Biaxing, consult your doctor about possibility to harm the fetus. It is advised to discontinue breast-feeding during treatment with Biaxing.
