3. Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of chronic failure of heart, arterial hypertension (such as symptomatic), prostate gland benign hyperplasia.

4. Action

Cardura is applied for treatment of patients, who have problems with arterial hypertension, which results in serious clinical reduction of arterial hypertension.

5. Posology and Administration

For treatment of arterial hypertension the dose for medication mya vary from 1 to 16 mg per day. The treatment should last for one-two weeks and should start with the dose of 1mg taken once a day. During the next two weeks of treatment, the dose can be increased up to 2mg per day. The gradual increase of dose is possible, if it is necessary to reach the needed effect. It should be done on regular intervals and increased to4mg,. then 8, and then 16mg, depending on the appearing reaction of a patient. The general daily dose is 2-4mg per day.
For treatment of prostate gland benign hyperplasia the dose for starting therapy is 1mg per day. Depending on the individual characteristics, the dose may then be increased up to 4mg, or even up to the maximum recommended dose around 8mg per day. The interval between recommended dosage increases is 1-2 weeks. The average daily dose, which is recommended is 2-4mg per day.

It is recommended to administer Cardura with caution in the period of pregnancy and lactation, in case of liver failure, in case of excessive lowering of arterial tension, while the body is in vertical position, in case of narrowing of atrioventricular sinistral opening or narrowing of aorta. It is not recommended for use in childhood age, as the safety and efficiency of the drug has not yet being proved.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed include: possibility of significant decreased of arterial tension.

10. Side Effects

Headaches, dizziness, tiredness, fatigability, faintness fits, edemas, drowsy feelings (such as response to body positioning), asthenia, nausea, irregular heartbeat and tachycardia, chest pain, stenocardia, stroke, myocardial infarction, arrhythmia, stomach pains, vomiting, diarrhea, unwilling tremor movements, excitement, urine incontinence, uncontrolled long-term erection or impotency. There were cases reported with rashes of skin, bleeding of nose, yellow illness, hepatitis, compromised functioning of liver and loss of vision.

The administration of Cardura in the period of pregnancy is only allowed if the expected positive effect exceeds the possibility to potentially harm the fetus. The same is regarded to breast-feeding.
