- Indications for Use.
– for treatment of general prostatic gland cancer as part of combined treatment with LHRH analogue (luteinizing hormone releasing hormone) or as part of combined therapy with castration (tablets of 50 mg);
– applied locally as mono-therapy for general cancer of prostate gland or in combination with radiotherapy or prostatectomy in adjuvant treatment in 150mg tablets;
– applied locally for general prostate gland cancer of non-metastatic form in case, when medical intervention or a castration surgery are not allowed. Tablets of 150mg should be used for monotherapy.

The medication has the ability to cause involution of prostatic gland tumors.
- Posology and Administration
The medication should be used in the dose of 50mg per day for treatment of elderly people and people of middle age. It is recommended to start treatment simultaneously with intake of LHRH analogue treatment or at the same time with castration surgery.
Tablets in dose of 150mg should be taken once a day as a mono-treatment.
Patients with failures of kidney functioning or patients with moderate stages of compromised liver functioning don�t need to correct the dose for treatment.
- Counterindications
– hypersensitivity to Bicalutamide and other components of the drug;
– simultaneous treatment with Astemizole, Terfenadine, and Cyzaprid;
– Casodex should not be used for treatment of women and children.

Casodex is usually well-tolerated, but in some rare cases there might be a need to cancel the medication because of the side effects it can cause.
Casodex medication should be used with caution for treatment of people, who have moderate or severe level of manifestation of compromised functioning of liver. It is mostly likely to have changes in functioning of liver during the beginning 6 months of treatment.

- Overdosing
There has not been described any case of overdosage in human being. In overdosage there is a repeated probability of a substantial increase of side effects. Side effects on cardio-vascular system: failure of heart.
Side effects on intestinal system: dryness of mouth, anorexia, disorder of alimentary system, drum belly, constipations.
Side effects on central nervous system: headaches, dizziness, insomnia, fall of libido, drowsiness.
Side effects on respiratory system: labored breathing.
Side effects on urogenital system: quantitively bigger amounts of urination at night, impotency.
Side effects on blood formation system: anemia.
Dermatologic reactions: rash, overgrowth of hair, loss of hair, enhancement of perspiration.
Side effects on metabolism: edemas, diabetes, decreased or increased body mass.
Other side effects: chest pain, pain in the stomach, pain in the zone of pelvis, cold fits.
Nevertheless, there have not been tests made, in order to prove the relationship between these effects and treatment with Casodes, and these side effects are also often emerging in elderly patients, without treatment with Casodex.
