Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of arterial hypertension, chronic form of failure of heart (as part of combined therapy).

Action

Minipresslowers the afterload on heart. The medication has the effect of delatating the peripheral veins, while lowering the preload on heart. Minipress improves intracardiac and systematic floow of blood in treatment of patients with chronic failure of heart. The medication has the ability to lower circulation and reduce tension.

Posology and Administration

Administration and dosage of medication should be defined individually.
Adults and children above 12 years old: 5mg per 1kg as a single-shot test dose, and in future treatment 235-150mg per 1kg, which should be taken in 4 intakes.
The usual dose for start of treatment is 0.5mg, which should be taken 2-3 times per day. General therapeutic dose per day is 4-5mg. Highest allowed dose is 20mg per day with daily factor of repetition of 2-3 times.

Counterindications

Chronic failure of heart, arterial hypotension, left ventricular inflation lowered pressure cardiac defects; lactation and pregnancy, children at age lower than 12 years old; hypersensitivity to active ingredient.

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Patients with Nephropathy should take lower doses of medication and administer it with caution.
Control your arterial tensions and beating of heart frequency during the treatment in prone and upright position on a regular basis.

Interface with Other Medications

To avoid the risk of having adverse reactions on interference of Minipress with other medications, do not try to self-administer any other drugs, while treated with Minipress, without doctor�s order.

Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed: evidenced lowering of arterial tension.

Side Effects

Dizziness, sleeping disorders, secrease of tension (particularly in standing position), headache, weakness, nausea, fatigability, polyuria, heartbeat. If Prazosin is used for a long period of time, there is a possibility of development of edemas in lower limbs. Some rare cases showed effects of consciousness loss in case of rising from a horizontal position, particularly after the intake of first dose.

Pregnancy and Lactation

It is not allowed to use Minipress during pregnancy and treatment should be avoided during breast-feeding period.
