- Indications for Use.
For systemic treatment can be used in: infectious-inflammatory pernicious diseases caused by the microorganisms, which are sensitive to the drug such as: abscess of lung, pneumonia, empyema, endomettritis, osteomyelitis, adnexitis, peritonitis, purulent infections of soft tissues, skin, and wounds. Can be used as preventive therapy for peritonitis and intraabdominal abscesses following a trauma of bolwes or perforation (in combination with aminoglycosides). The medication has a reserve antibiotic action for treatment of infections, caused by staphylococcus stocks and other gram-positive microorganisms which have resistance to penicillin.
For local use can be applied for treatment of vaginoses caused by the microorganisms, which have sensitivity to the medication.
For external use can be applied for treatment of acne vulgaris.
- Action
In therapeutic doses Clindamycin has an effect on a microbe cell, breaking an intracellular synthesis of albumen. The drug is highly active as for gram-positive, likewise as for some gram-negative microorganisms.

Posology and Administration
Administration and posology of the medication are individual. Dose for treatment of adult patients can be from 150 to 450mg taken 4 times a day. For treatment of infectious-inflammatory diseases of pelvic organs and abdominal cavity the medication should be taken intramuscularly and in daily dose from 1.2 to 2.7 g taken 3-4 introductions. The highest allowed daily dose for intramuscular intake is 4.8g. The medication should not be injected in dose higher than 600mg in one intramuscular injection. For treatment of pernicious disease the medication should be taken intravenously in the amount of 1.2g at maximum 30mg per minute velocity. The course of treatment should be from 10 to 14 days.
For oral treatment of children above the age of 1 month the medication should be taken in dose of 8-25mg per 1 kilo of weight per day, which should be divided into 3-4 intakes. Children, whose mass of body is lower than 10mg should take 37.5mg of medication (half a tea spoon) three times a day. For treatment of newborns the medication should be introduced parenterally in the dose of 15-20mg per 1 kilo of body weight per day. Babies above one month old should be treated with dose of 20-40mg per 1 kilo per day, which should be taken 3-4 times per day.
When using vaginal cream for treatment, it is recommended to use 1 applicator before going to sleep for a term of one week.
For outward application it is possible to use gel on the affected areas two-three times a day.
- Counterindications
Period of pregnancy and lactation, evidenced dysfunction of renal system, hypersensitivity to Clindamycin, and compromised liver function.

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
The medication should be taken with caution for treatment of patients with myasthenia, ulcer colitis in stage of anamnesis, bronchial asthma, severe liver and/or kidney failure, period of pregnancy and lactation. It is necessary to be cautious when using it for treatment of elderly patients.

Symptoms of getting overdosed include enhancement of the manifestation of side effects.
- Side Effects
Impairment of the blood and blood formation system, impairment of nervomuscular capacity.
High or low arterial tension during intravenous introduction is quick, respiratory and cardiac standstill.
Side effects on organs of intestinal tract: nausea, pain in stomach, vomiting, dysbacteriosis, diarrhea, yellow sickness, elevation of appetite, liver dysfunctions, when the medication is used in big doses intravenously – possible unpleasant metallic after-taste in the mouth.
Reactions of allergies: hives, rash of medium and mild evidence, itching;
Other side effects: soreness, superinfections; induration, other reactions in the place of introduction such as abscess (in case of intramuscular introduction) and thrombophlebitis (in case of intravenous introduction).

Pregnancy and Lactation
It is not allowed to use Clindamycin during pregnancy.
When there is a need to use Clindamycin in the period of lactation, it is only allowed when severely necessary for treatment. If the treatment is needed during lactation period, it is better to discontinue breast-feeding.
