3. Indications for Use.
Used for treatment of genital herpes, zoster, post-herpetic neuralgia: treatment of primary infections, in case of aggravation of infection in chronic stage, for attacks prevention.
4. Action
The action of Famvir is anti-virus. It has active action against human herpes viruses. It has the ability to lower the frankness and length of post-herpetic neuralgia for patients, who have zoster herpes.
5. Posology and Administration
The advised dose for treatment is 1.5mg taken in 24 hours, with 500mg taken 3 times per day. Patients, who have compromised functioning of kidney should decrease the dose. For patients of elderly age, without problems with kidney functioning, there is no need to decrease the dose.
The course of therapy should last for about 3-5 weeks, which depends of the severity of the disease and course form.
6. Counterindications
– hypersensibility to any components of the medication and the active ingredient - Famiciclovir;
– hypersensitivity to Penciclovir.
