- Indications for Use.
Used for treatment of degenerative and inflammatory illnesses of spinal column and joints, combined with syndrome of pain, such as rheumatis, rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatoid spondylitis (Bechterev’s disease), juvenile chronic arthritis, osteoarthrosis, tendinitis, painful shoulder, tendovaginitis, frozen shoulder, severe gout attack; pain syndromes of different origins: primary dysmenorrheal, neuralgia, post-surgical and post-traumatic pain, including pain caused by athletic injuries (dislocation, concussion, strain), puffiness and pain in joints, muscles and tendons, caused by supertension etc.; acute upper air passages infectious inflammatory diseases.
- Action
Piroxicam medicxation has non-narcotic, anti-inflammatory and anti-pyretic effect and has the ability to improve the flow of blood.
- Posology and Administration
Piroxicam has a wide range of effects and administration. It is hard to define, for what the medication should be used and in which doses. It is recommended to define dosage and regimen of administration individually for each patient.
- Counterindications
Aspirin-sensitive asthma, hypersensitivity, compromised manifested functioning of liver or kidney, proctitis, erosive-ulcer lesions of gastrointestinal tract, hemorrhagic diathesis; Periods of breast-feeding and pregnancy, as well as yur age (injections with solution should be used for patients under the age of 18, and ointment or gel, suppositories should be used for treatment of children under age of 14).

The medication should be taken cautiously and there is a need to constantly monitor functioning of liver and kindye and check composition of blood cells during treatment. Patients, who suffer from allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, mucous coating polyps in the nose, obstructive diseases of chronic stage should advise with a doctor before starting treatment and in case of local use of medication.
It is recommended not to take alcoholic drinks in process of treatment.
Piroxicam should not be put on cutaneous coverings and the medication should not penetrate in eyes and coverings of mucus.

Side Effects
Side effects on nervous system and sense organs: headache, dizziness, irritation, insomnia or drowsiness, weakness, hallucinations, depression, buzzing in ears, eye irritation, visual loop.
Side effects on cardiovascular system and blood: heart beat, increased arterial tension, initiation of blood clotting, compositional disorder of blood.
Side effects on gastrointestinal organs: stomatitis, dryness of mouth, lesion of gastrointestinal tract, belch, nausea, anorexia, constipation or diarrhea, weight loss, meteorism, stomach pain in the pit, bleeding of gums, lesion of erosive-ulcers in gastrointestinal tract, compromised functioning of liver, and bleeding initiations.
Side effects on urogenital system: syndrome of all kidneys dysfunctional disorder, kidneys insufficiency.
Other side effects: perspiration, allergic reactions (flushed skin, itch; edemas, including facial edemas and edemas of arms; Lyell’s syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, very rare – bronchial spasms, anaphylactic reactions, rash, dread of light), edemas (especially of lower limbs in patients with compromised functioning of heart), gaining or loss of weight, elevation of urea content.
Local allergic reactions: false defecation urges, irritation of straight intestine�s mucus coating, disagreeable heaviness and pain sensation in anal region (suppositories); in skin marking – skin irritation, including reddening, itch, burning (when used for a long time), rash.

Pregnancy and Lactation
The medication is not recommended for use in pregnant or breast-feeding patients.
