Irbesartan is a medication, which is used for treatment of backward heart failure and hypertensions of arteries.
- Action
Irbesartan lowers the overall resistance of peripheral vascular system, afterload on the heart, blood stream pulmonary arterial pressure, and systematic arterial tension.

Posology and Administration
Both starting and supporting doses are 150mg, taken one time a day. If necessary, the dose can be increased to the level of 300mg taken once a day.
The medication can be taken both with and without food. Swallow whole tablets, without chewing them, and take water with pills.
Patients with failure of kidney functioning (without disorder of electrolyte metabolism), with compromised functioning of liver and for elderly patients there is no need to have correction of dose.
It is recommended to take the medication at the same time every day. If for some reason you miss a dose, do not take a double dose on the next day.

Irbesartan is not advised for use in combination with other medications without prescription of a doctor, as there is a chance of emergence of side effects.

Symptoms of getting overdosed: bradycardia or tachycardia, collapse, severe drop of arterial tension.

Side effects on central nervous system: dizziness, headache.

Other side effects: weakness, sickliness, breast pains, coughing, motion disorder of digestive system, diarrhea, dizziness, heartburn, disorders of sexual function, decrease of arterial pressure (with can cause fainting fit, when the body position is abruptly changed), tachycardia; allergy reactions, dry cough.

Pregnancy and Lactation
Irbesartan is not recommended for use in the period of pregnancy. If in the process of treatment pregnancy emerges, it is needed to stop treatment immediately.
Consider the issue of stopping breast-feeding, if you need to have treatment in the process of lactation.
