Indications for Use.

Used for treatment of stable stenocardia, which includes stenocardia of Princemetal (vasospastic), initial elevated content of cholesterin (hypercholesterinemia), arterial hypertension.

Action

Medication is helpful for control of hypertensive illness, as well as to control the levels of cholesterine.

Posology and Administration

In case of stenocardia and in case of hypertensive illness, the starting dose should be 5mg per day, taken once a day. If it is necessary and in case of well tolerance of the drug, the dose can be increased to the maximum dose, which is 10mg per day. In case of treatment of arterial hypertension, the supporting dose should be from 2.5 to 5mg per day. In case of treatment of stenocardia and prevention of attacks, it is adviced to use 10mg per day dose. In case of non-ishemic dilatation of cardiomyopathy, in case of serious chronic form of failure of heart, the dose for starting treatment should be around 5mg per day taken in single-shot.
For patients, who have hypocholesterninemia, the dose should be defined individually, depending on the personal level of cholesterine. The usual dose for start of treatment should be 10mg per day in single shot, maximum dose � 80mg per day.

Counterindications

It is not advised to use it in case of pregnancy, during periods of lactation and breast-feeding, if having liver disease in active stage, for treatment of women, who are in reproductive age, and those who do not use reliable contraceptive methods, in case of hypersensitivity to active ingredient of the drug. It is also not advised to use it for treatment of children under 18 years old.

Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

There are no pr?cised worked out recommendations about the use of Amlodipine for treatment of elderly patients and the dosage for such treatment. Therefore, it is advised to administer the medication with caution in such situations.

Interface with Other Medications

Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed: long-term and evidenced decrease of arterial tension, lumens proliferation of peripheral vessels of blood, tachycardia.

Side Effects

Tiredness, nausea, drowsiness, stomach pains, headaches, flushing, edemas, asthenia, dizziness, heart beating, disruption of intestinal motility, asthenia, gums swelling, arthralgia, labored breath, gynecomastia, higher frequency of urination, impotency, mood changes, irritation and itching of skin, skin rashes, disturbance of vision. In rare cases, there might be appearance of yellow illness or change in the fermentation of liver.

Pregnancy and Lactation

It has not yet been determined, if Amlodipine is safe for treatment during pregnancy and breast-feeding periods. It is only allowed to use Amlodipine in the period of pregnancy and lactation in case if the use of it and the expected positive outcomes are much more serious than the possibility of the risks, connected with the administration of Amlodipine during breast-feeding and pregnancy (which have not yet been determined).

Driving
