- Indications for Use.
Used for treatment of diabetes of type 2 in adult patients, is usually used as the second line preparation when diet therapy proved to be inefficient, as well as exercising and other kinds of previous therapies, especially with patients, who have well-controllable and stable glycemia level.
- Action
Glyburide works by deflating the glucose level in the serum of blood. It lowers the level of cholesterol and the absorption of carbohydrates inside the digestive tract.
- Posology and Administration
Glyburide is administered orally with a meal. The dose of medication should be defined individually for each person, depending on the clycemia levels. The dose for start of treatment is usually 1 pill of Glyburide of 500/2.5mg taken daily. The highest allowed dose is 4 pills of Glyburide 500/2.5mg or two pills of Glyburide 500/5mg per day.
- Counterindications
In case of failure of kidney or its compromised functioning, if hypersensitive to drug components and active ingredient, in case of serious infections, in case of chronic or acute illnesses, combines with hypoxypathy; respiratory or heart failure, porphyria, recent enfarction of myocardial, periods of pregnancy and breast-feeding, major burns, diseases caused by infections, serious surgeries and traumas, and other health conditions, which need insulin therapy, compromised functioning of liver, alcoholism in chronic form, serious alcoholic intoxication.

Administration of Glyburide should be performed with care in case if a patient has:
- syndrome of fever;
- gland thyroid diseases (accompanied with thyroid gland dysfunction);
- diseased of kidney;
- it is not advised to drink alcoholic beverages during the process of treatment with Glyburide.
It is recommended to try to avoid infections of urinary system and infections of bronchopulmonary system in the process of treatment with Glyburide.
- Interface with Other Medications
Consult your doctor before starting treatment and combining Glyburide with other medications to find out if it is possible to combine the drugs you are about to use.
- Overdosing
