3. Indications for Use.

The medication should be administered on personally basis with dosage defined individually.
The medication can be used for treatment of stenocardia, arterial hypertension, sinus tachycardia (including those with cases of hyperthyroidism), vemtricular and supraventricular beats, supraventricular tachycardia, hypertrophic candimyopathy, tachy-systolic form of atrial fibrillation, myocardial infarction, subaoric stenosis, bulging of mitral valve, sympathoadrenal crisis in diencephalic syndrome patients, portal hypertension, neurocirculatory asthenia, essential tremor, aggressive behavior, panic attacks, migraine (as a preventative measure), thyrotoxic crisis, ancillary treatment of pheochromocytoma, primary uterine inertia, thyrotoxicosis (including presurgery preparation), menopausal vasomotor syndrome, treatment of akathisia, caused by neuroleptics, abstinence syndrome.

4. Action

Drops of Propranolol have the ability to affect the arterial tension. It elevated the tonicity of bronchi. The medication has the ability to enhance the spontaneous uterus involutions and generated involutiosn. The medication is effective for lowering the level of bleeding in post-surgical period and after birth of a child.

5. Posology and Administration

The medication should be used for treatment intravenously by stream in adult patients in order to stol thyrotoxic crisis and arrhythmia, and acute ischemia in dose of  1 mg during one minute, if necessary, the medication can be used repeatedly at a 2 minute interval (with ECG and AT being controlled). The maximal dose of Propranolol used for oral treatment is 10mg. It should be taken with some liquid or semi-liquid food (such as water, apple sauce, juice, pudding and other). Adults patients in case of treatment of arterial hypertension the dose for start of treatment should use 80mg taken twice a day. The dose for supporting treatment is 160-320mg. In case of using the medication for a long-term, it should be used in dose of 80mg per day, which can also be increased up to 120-160mg, which can be taken in single-shot. It is necessary to control AT. In case of treatment of arrhythmias the medication should be takenin dose of 10-30mg, in 3-4 intakes and in case of subaortal stenosis it should be taken in the dose of 20-40mg per day, taken in 3-4 times. For treatment of portal hypertension, migraine, stenocardia, tremor and excitement the medication should be used in starting dose of 40 mg taken 2–3 times a day, with a supporting dose of 160, 120–240, 80–160, 80–120, 80–160 mg per day accordingly. In treatment of pheochromocytoma the medication should be used in dose of 30–60 mg per day for a period of 3 days (before surgery). In case of treatment of myocardial infarction from the 5th to 21st day after the infarction the medication should be used in dose of 40mg taken 4 times per day for a period of 2-3 days. In further treatment the medication should be used 2 times a day in the dose of 80mg. In case of induction of labor the medication should be taken once in 30 minutes in the dose of 20mg 4-6 times (from 80 to 120 mg per day), as a preventive treatment of postpartum hemorrhages the medication is used in dose of 20 mg taken 3 times per day for a period of 3-5 days. When the medication is used for treatment of glaucoma, it should be take intra-conjunctivally in the eye, which is impaired.

When the medication is used for treatment of children it should be take orally in dose of 0.5-1mg per 1 kilo per day for start of treatment. The supporting dose is 2-4mg per 1 kilo per day, which should be divided in 2 intakes.

6. Counterindications

Emphysema, chronic bronchitis, diabetes, acidosis, hypoglycemia, compromised function of kidneys and liver, irritable bowel syndrome, psoriasis, myasthenia, breast-feeding and pregnancy, elderly age.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

It is necessary to have regular control of medical condition of a patient during treatment.
When using medication for treatment of elderly patients, there is a high probability of emergence of side effects, which influence the central nervous system. In case of using the medication for treatment of patients with compromised functioning of liver it is necessary to reduce the dose and monitor the patient for the first 4 days of treatment. When the medication is used for treatment of diabetic patients, it should be done with strict care and control.
It is not recommended to take alcohol during treatment.
It is necessary to withdraw the medication slowly for a period of 2 weeks.

8. Interface with Other Medications

The medication is not recommended for simultaneous intake with other medications, especially without doctor�s order.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms of getting overdosed: bradycardia, dizziness, arrhythmia, significant lowering of arterial tension, heart failure, coma, bluish discoloration of hands and fet, respiratory affection, convulsions.

10. Side Effects

Side effects on nervous system: dizziness, undue fatigability, headache, weakness, insomnia or drowsiness, “nightmare” dreams, unrest, depression, short-term loss of memory or conscious fog, hallucinations, unintentional rhythmic motions of limbs and their numbness. Side effects on sense organs: reductionf of tear secretion, disorders of vision acuity, painful and dry eyes. Side effects on cardio-vascular system: low arterial tension, disorder of heart-beat rhythm, lower extremities coldness. Side effects on intestinal system: nausea, dry mucus coating, vomiting, elevated gas production, pains in the zone of the stomach, diarrhea or constipations, change of taste, compromised liver function. Reactions of allergies: skin rash, itching, hives.
Other side effects: hyperthyroidism, enhancement of perspiration, pain in the back, lowering of potency, weakening of libido, “withdrawal” syndrome (high arterial tension, enhancement of attacks of stenocardia).

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

The medication is not recommended for intake during pregnancy. Breast-feeding should be stopped during treatment.

12. Driving
