Nortriptyline

Indications for Use.

Nortriptyline is used for treatment of different forms of depressions, for treatment of manic-depressive disease in depressive stage, for treatment of neurotic and reactive depressions. Nortriptyline can be used for therapy of depressions, which were caused by insanity therapy during schizophrenic disease. Nortriptyline also cures pre-menstrual syndrome and bed-wetting.

Action

The drug works as an mitigative antidepressant and if effective for treatment of bed-wetting (enuresis) and in some cases can be used as a light painkiller.

Posology and Administration

The medication should only be administered by a professional medical specialist and the treatment should be performed under severe medical control. Dosage is to be chosen individually. Start treatment with small doses, patients in elderly age should take smaller doses of medication.
Average daily dose is 75-100mg, taking 1 dragee 3-4 times a day. To not take a daily dose bigger than 150mg.
When the treatment starts giving positive results, it is advised to lower the dose gradually to the supporting minimum dose.
It is not allowed to take two doses at a time in case if a dose is missed.

Counterindications
