- Indications for Use.
Depressions of different origin, panic disorders, manifestations of haunting, social anxiety disorders, haunting compulsive ideas, social phobia, post-traumatic combat fatigue.
- Action
The active ingredient of the medication takes psychotropic action and works as an anti-worrying and anti-depressive remedy, which has moderately stimulating effect of arousal. The effect from treatment becomes visible after 10 days.
- Posology and Administration
The medication should be taken one time a day orally in the time of meals in the morning. It is necessary to swallow whole tablets with some water. The dosage regimen should be determined individually in each case for a period of 2-3 weeks of therapy, depending on individual response to the medication. In further treatment the dose can be corrected, if necessary.
Indepressions - 20 mg one time per day. The dose can be gradually increased if needed by 10mg per day, until reaching the maximal daily dose of 50mg.
In haunting thoughts and ideas: a the dose for start of treatment should be 20mg per day, and then the dose can be increased on a weekly basis by 10mg. The average dose for therapeutic effect is 40mg per day, which can be increased up to 60mg per day if needed.
In рanic disorders: the dose for start of treatment should be 10mg per day (as with this dose it is easier to avoid the risks of development or aggravation of panic syndromes). In further treatment the dose can be increased by 10mg in case of good tolerability, until reaching the average dose for treatment of 40mg per day. Maximal dose is 50mg per day.
Social-anxiety disorders/socio-phobia: the dose for start of treatment should be 20mg per day, which should be taken for 2 weeks. And if there is no performance, then the dose should be increased up to the maximal daily dose of 50mg per day. It is recommended to increase the dose at 1-2 week interval by 10mg, depending on clinical performance.
For treatment of patients with failure of liver the recommended dose is 20 mg per day.
For treatment elderly people a daily dose should not be higher than 40 mg.
In order to eliminate possibility to development of cancellation syndrome, it is necessary to withdraw the medication gradually.
Paroxetine should not be used for treatment of children, as efficiency and safety of this medication for this age group is not determined.
- Counter indications
Simultaneous intake of Paroxetine with other medications without doctor�s order, periods of lactation, breast-feeding and pregnancy, teenagers and children under age of 18 years old; hypersensitivity to Paroxetine and other drug�s components.
- Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
The medication should be used with special caution for treatment of patients with closed-angle glaucoma, kidney or liver failure, with inflammation of prostrate gland, heart pathologies, manias (particularly with suicidal tendency), convulsion conditions, epilepsy, elevated bleeding risk factors and predisposition to such illnesses. It is recommended to patients to keep away from drinking alcohol during treatment.

Rare – convulsions, thought disorder, hallucinations, paranoid or manic reactions, aggression, epileptic attacks, cataract, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, stenocardia, stroke, myocardial infarction, disorder of heart rhythm, dermatitis, kidney function disturbance.

Pregnancy and Lactation
The medication has not been thoroughly studied for safety of use during pregnancy, and for this reason it is not recommended for use in the period of pregnancy and lactation. In case if the expected favorable outcome for mother exceeds the possible risks for the fetus, the medication can be taken. It is better to give up on breast-feeding during treatment with the medication.
