Important notice! 4. Action
Omeprazole is a drug, which is a part of anti-secretory medications family, and has the action in the stomach of lowering the elaboration of hydrolic acid.
Omeprazole works by blocking specific albumin in the stomach cells, which are responsible for producing acid. As a result, the elaboration of acid is decreased.
5. Posology and Administration
Omeprazole should be administered 1 hour before eating.
Swallow Omeprazole tablets and capsules in whole, without chewing them or crushing. If taking Omeprazole in single intake, it is recommended to take it in the evening, before going to sleep.
Omeprazole is used for treatment of reflux-esophagitis and disease of ulcers� attacks. Omeprazole should be taken 20mg one time a day before eating breakfast. If you have previously taken other anti-ulcer medications and have not received desired result, start treatment with 40mg dose per day. In case of treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, start with 60mg dose and in future treatment increase it to 80mg per day, which should be taken in two intakes. Course of treatment should last 2-8 weeks It is indicated to cure attacks of ulcer disease and in reflux-esophagitis. It is recommended to take 20 mg once a day before breakfast. The patients who have taken other anti-ulcer drugs and not having received any positive results are recommended to start the treatment from the dose of 40 mg a day. In Zollinger-ellison syndrome the treatment is started from 60 mg, then, if needed, it is brought to 80 mg a day in two intakes. The duration of the course of treatment is from 2 to 8 weeks.
6. Counterindications
Pregnancy (including a planned one), breastfeeding.
Allergic reaction on Omeprazole.
Individual hyper sensitivity.
7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
Before the start of the treatment it is necessary to exclude the possibility of a malign process, as the drug therapy may mask symptoms and signs, and because of this diagnostics may be hampered.
Caution should be taken while using the drug in patients suffering from distortions of liver functions.
When the drug is administrated to diabetes patients it should be taken into consideration that every capsule of it contains about 119 mg of saccharose.
As there is no experience of a clinical use of Omeprazole it is not recommended to use it in children.
8. Interface with Other Medications
When there is a necessity to use some drugs together with Prilosec it may be needed to decrease the dose because of a potential risk of the increase of severity of side effects. In this case you must necessarily ask your doctor for advice.
9. Overdosing

10. Side Effects
Omeprazole usually is well tolerated. In rare cases diarrhea, stomach pains, meteorism, headache, dizziness and skin rash are registered.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation
It is not known whether Omeprazole excretes into human milk. Due to the possibility of serious reactions in newborn babies, in the case of the necessity of using Omeprazole by mother it is necessary to stop breast feeding.
Due to the lack of clinical data it is not recommended to administer the drug both in the period of breastfeeding and in children.
12. Driving
While administering the drug in the persons who feel drowsiness, weakness and other CNS effects caution should be taken.
Side effects on nervous system: disturbances of motor functions (in children and in patients with elevated permeability of hematoencephalic barrier). Reactions of allergies: hives, rashes of skin. Others reactions: disturbance of hormonal level (pathologic unprompted flow of milk from lacteal glands, increased size of lacteal glands in males). Pregnancy and Lactation Domperidone should not be administered during pregnancy, unless there is a severe necessity. Domperidone is excreted into milk of mother, therefore should not be used by nursing patients. Driving Be especially cautious, when driving a vehicle or operating any kind of machinery, while being treated with Domperidone, as the medication can cause worsening of attention concentration, which can affect your psychomotor functioning.
